Abstract

Kata kunci: hipertensi, rendam kaki air hangat, lansiaThe Effect of Warm Water Foot Sound on Decreasing Blood Pressure of HypertensionPatients in the Middle Age and Elderly Whit in Genggong VillageAbstractHypertension is a systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressureof more than 90 mmHg. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that can be done is soaking thefeet in warm water. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of foot soak in warm wateron blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension. Pre-experimental research method with one grouppretest-posttest design model, the sampling technique is total sampling. Samples were taken from allmembers of the population totaling 30 respondents. This research instrument uses SOP hydrotherapyfrom Potter & Perry (2012). Giving this intervention 6 times in a row, to soak the feet in warm water for15 minutes. Data analysis of the two variables using the T-test, namely the paired t-test and Wilcoxontest. The results showed a decrease in systolic blood pressure of 11 mmHg and diastolic blood pressureof 4 mmHg. The results of the analysis showed that the p-value of systolic and diastolic was 0.001, sothere was an effect of foot soaking in warm water on reducing blood pressure in middle-aged and elderlyhypertension patients in Genggong Village. The elderly with hypertension can use warm water foot soaktherapy in overcoming hypertension, as a form of complementary therapy that is inexpensive and easyto do independently. Keywords: hypertension, foot soak in warm water, the elderly
