Prevalensi karies gigi di Jawa Tengah pada tahun 2018 sebesar 43,4%. Proporsi pada kelompok umur 3-4 tahun sebesar 38,4%, umur 5-6 tahun sebesar 53,5%. Salah satu penyebab terjadinya karies gigi pada anak usia pra sekolah adalah konsumsi susu formula yang kurang tepat. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui hubungan konsumsi susu formula dengan kejadian karies gigi pada anak usia prasekolah di Desa Sringin Jumantono. Penelitian menggunakan observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian yaitu 126 anak menerapkan teknik sampling purposive sampling didapatkan 56 responden. Hasil analisis yang didapatkan untuk konsumsi susu formula menunjukan bahwa kejadian karies gigi yang paling besar adalah kategori sedang, yaitu sebesar 24 anak (42,8%). Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Chi-square terdapat hubungan konsumsi susu formula dengan kejadian karies gigi anak usia prasekolah di Desa Sringin Jumantono. Orang tua diharapkan berperan lebih aktif dalam mengajarkan anak untuk terbiasa memelihara status kesehatan gigi dan mulut sejak dini.

The Consumption of Infant Formula Milk to the Incidence of Dental Caries on Preschool Children at Sringin Jumantono Village

 

Abstract

The prevalence of dental caries in Central Java in 2018 was 43.4%. The proportion in the age group 3-4 years is 38.4%, aged 5-6 years is 53.5%. One of the causes of dental caries in pre-school age children is the consumption of formula milk that is not appropriate. This study aims to determine the relationship between consumption of infant formula milk to the incidence of dental caries on preschool children at Sringin Jumantono Village. Research method used observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population were 126 children and the respondents were 56 children taken by purposive sampling. The analysis results of formula milk consumption showed that the highest incidence of dental caries was in the moderate category, which were 24 children (42.8%). The data were analyzed using Chi-square test, there was a relationship between consumption of formula milk to the incidence of dental caries on preschool children in Sringin Jumantono Village. Parents are expected to have active role in teaching children to get used to maintain dental and oral health status from an early age.
