Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN STRESS AND BLOOD PRESSURE IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS IN PRODUCTIVE AGE

Abstract

Hypertension is still the number one killer disease in Indonesia. Later, the disease does not only attack older people due to degenerative factors but productive age. The age of hypertension sufferers increasingly stretches down to the age of 25 - 45 years. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship of stress with blood pressure of hypertensive sufferers at productive age in the work area of Kebakkramat 1 Karanganyar Health Center. This research was a quantitative research with observational analytic, using cross sectional approach. The sample of this study was 60 respondents. The sampling technique was by using cluster random sampling and data analysis using cross tabulation. The results showed there was a relationship between stress and systolic blood pressure and diastole of hypertensive patients of productive age with p-values of 0.032 and 0,000. People with hypertension with high stress have the risk to experience an increase in blood pressure of systole 3.29 times and diastole 10 times compared to patients with low stress. Conclusion: there was a significant relationship between stress and blood pressure, both systolic and diastolic in patients with hypertensive productive age.
